A short photospread of some bonsai taken this summer.
Sometimes you just need to take a break from the seemingly endless list of garden and bonsai activities in summer, and take some snapshots of the projects. Some of these bonsai were on sale at Arboretum Mustila's Taimipäivä (nursery plant market) at the end of August.
A dual trunk (one trunk dead) bonsai, made from a regular Thuja 'Brabant'. This was bought as a hedge plant, and gradually reduced over several years.An advantage of starting with an already grown tree, (rather than a seedling) is the nice thick nebari (root base) already present.Another Thuja bonsai. A somewhat formal upright style. This one was sold.The already familiar Fuji cherry (Prunus incisa) 'Kojo-no-mai' bonsai. This time in late summer.Shrubby cinquefoil (Dasiphora fruticosa) bonsai with its yellow flowers this time of the year.A dwarf Canadian hemlock bonsai.
